Food Bucks Now FAQs
Who can participate in Food Bucks Now?
SNAP participants with an active SNAP/EBT card.
How does Food Bucks Now work? Who does it support?
Food Bucks Now provides $30 in special Food Bucks Now credits to SNAP households that can be redeemed for SNAP eligible food purchases at participating farmer’s markets, food stands, and community grocery stores for a temporary period beginning in November as the government shutdown continues and SNAP benefits aren’t available.
Where is it available?
The special temporary Food Bucks Now program is available at select Double Up Arizona locations which can be found here: https://doubleupaz.org/locations/.
How do SNAP participants access Food Bucks Now?
SNAP customers can bring their EBT card to a participating location through the Double Up Arizona network. Staff on site will assist with issuing Food Bucks Now vouchers. SNAP participants are eligible to receive a $10 green voucher for Double Up fruits and veggies and a $30 pink Food Bucks Now voucher for any SNAP eligible foods in November or until the government shutdown ends.
How is Food Bucks Now different from Double Up Food Bucks?
Double Up Arizona is the SNAP fruit and vegetable matching program. When customers spend $1 with SNAP at participating locations, they get $1 to spend on fruits and veggies and dry beans with Double Up Food Bucks. Food Bucks Now is a temporary limited time emergency food access program for SNAP participants that is distributed through the Double Up Arizona network of retailers, farmers, and food vendors.
Who administers this program?
Food Bucks Now is implemented by Arizona nonprofit Pinnacle Prevention (who also administers Double Up Arizona), in partnership with the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES).
Why is this important?
SNAP and programs like Double Up help families afford more healthy foods and support the local economy. This is an effort to continue to support food choice and options for families and to continue to support small farm and retail businesses. Programs like this not only feed people, but also our economy.
How much can SNAP participants earn per day?
SNAP customers with active EBT cards can show their cards to staff on site, who will assist with issuing Food Bucks Now vouchers. $30 in pink Food Bucks Now vouchers will be for SNAP-eligible foods. $10 in green SNAP Support Vouchers will be for Double Up eligible items: fruits, vegetables, dried beans, and food-producing plants and seeds.
What else do customers need to know?
This benefit is limited to $40 total, per EBT card, per day. We fully expect demand to exceed available voucher funding. All vouchers must be spent at participating select Double Up locations only. All vouchers expire November 30, 2025.
