DOUBLE UP FOOD BUCKS EXPANDS TO PHOENIX CORNER STORE

What a way to kick off the year for Double Up Food Bucks Arizona! Last week, we launched the program at the Best Farmers Market corner store in Phoenix. This is the first time Double Up Food Bucks will be available in a store setting in Arizona.

​We are always working to make this wonderful program more accessible and inclusive. Having Double Up Food Bucks available at a corner store helps increase access to healthy food for more Arizonans and allows people in the area to use their Double Up Food Bucks seven days a week! Best Farmers Market is located at 4825 N. 27th Avenue, and will now accept Double Up Food Bucks from open to close each day. 

On Friday, January 4th, we celebrated this exciting milestone with a launch event at Best Farmers Market. The launch party was a huge success, and the corner store is a wonderful addition to the Double Up AZ family.

“This is the first time we are partnering directly with these wonderful store owners here in the Phoenix area to bring Double Up Food Bucks to the community members seven days a week,” Kelley Villa, our Farm to Fork programs manager, said at the launch event. “They are open every day and they are wonderful champions of local food and local farmers.”

Best Farmers Market has been serving neighbors in the area for two decades. The store began as a hub for fresh produce, but shape-shifted over the years to include a wide variety of other goods. Owners Eric and May Abraham care about serving the needs of their community, and their shelves reflect it. The store is full of unique items that customers have requested, ranging from white eggplants to fresh carne asada, and of course, a wide variety of fresh produce. We couldn't be more thrilled to be part of their next chapter!
